SMEI: The average selling price of the company's MEMS chip wafers may decline in the future

On February 28, SMEI released a record of investor relations activities, and responded to the latest developments in MEMS, GaN and other businesses.
SMEI said that in recent years, the company's MEMS process development and wafer foundry capacity have been relatively tight, and the order schedule is long. From the calculation results of the unit price of chip wafers, in recent years, the price of single wafers has continued to rise and fast, the average selling price of the company's MEMS wafers from 2017 to 2020 was about $1,700/piece, $1,800/piece, $2,200/piece, and $2,700/piece, and the average selling price in the first half of 2021 rose to about $3600/piece. There is a big difference in the price of MEMS chip wafers in different fields. However, with the slight increase in the wafer manufacturing capacity of Sweden's FAB1&2 and the successive release of Beijing's FAB3-scale production capacity, the average selling price of the company's MEMS chip wafers may decline in the future, but it is expected that the normal semiconductor foundry gross profit level can still be guaranteed.
In terms of GAN business, SMEI said that in terms of GaN epitaxial wafers, the company has the ability to grow 6-8-inch GaN epitaxial materials and the technology is mature; in terms of GaN device design, the company has also iterated in terms of technology, application and demand and achieved sales. The previous key problem was the limited supply side of production capacity, and the company is trying to alleviate the problem of production capacity bottlenecks through various measures. On the one hand, the company has formed cooperation with domestic and foreign GaN foundries; on the other hand, the company is supporting and promoting the construction of local GaN production lines through appropriate means.
