China Telecom's 200,000 servers were collected and implemented, and the domestic chip G series accounted for 27%

Recently, China Telecom's 2022-2023 server centralized procurement project has opened bids, ZTE, Ziguang Huashan (Xinhua Third Subsidiary), Inspur Information, Hyperfusion, Fiberhome, Dawning Information, Lenovo Beijing, Aerospace Information, Zhongke Controllable, Sichuan Hongxin Software, Tongfang Co., Ltd., Hunan Xiangjiang Kunpeng and many other suppliers won the bid for the project.

According to the Observer.com report, this centralized procurement is one of the largest server centralized procurement projects of the three major domestic operators so far, with a total amount of 13.1 billion yuan and a total of 7 standard packages, computing, storage, and cold storage. All server models including NFV, NFV, GPU, etc. are listed, and the bidding scale reaches 200,000 units.

According to the announcement, the server types of China Telecom's centralized procurement are divided into three categories: A, I, and G. The so-called A series refers to servers using AMD chips, the I series is Intel chips, and the G series is domestic chips. Among them, the procurement scale of G series chips is 53,401 units, accounting for 26.7%. The A-series chips accounted for 2.4%, and the I-series chips accounted for the highest at 70.9%.

The proportion of domestically produced chips in this centralized procurement has decreased, but the total amount of purchases has increased significantly, and the code name of this centralized procurement of domestically produced chips has changed from the H series to the G series. For comparison, in China Telecom's centralized procurement of nearly 70,000 servers in 2020-2021, domestic CPUs (H series) accounted for 35.5%, with a total of 24,823 units. Among them, Huawei, Ziguang Huashan, and Tongfang Co., Ltd. use Kunpeng chips, and Zhongke Controllable and Inspur Information use Haiguang chips.

In terms of other operators, in the first batch of PC server centralized procurement projects of China Mobile in 2021-2022, a total of 44,000 domestic chip servers based on Huawei Kunpeng and Haiguang processors, accounting for 27.03% of the overall bidding volume.
